From humble beginnings on O`ahu to a New York City apartment and finally to our present location in Ha`iku, our operation began as a personal obsession and grew to what is now a full blown commercial nursery. Under our former name of Ha`iku Maui Orchids, our focus was primarily on orchid species and unusual hybrids and we were known for our quality cultivars collected and hybridized by co-owner & founder Norman Mizuno. The cultivar “Waterfield” has become a trademark of his breeding program and is now recognized worldwide. He continues to manage the nursery propagation program and the orchid collections. Co-owner Alan J. Davidson came into the business in 1993 and manages the daily nursery operations and pest management program as well as our new consultation and landscape design departments.
In 2007 we were given the distinction of having orchid genera named after two of our hybrids by the Royal Horticultural Society in London: Mizunoara and Davidsonara. In 2008, the company was awarded best commercial (100 sq ft) display and two bronze medals at the 19th World Orchid Conference in Miami Florida, a very proud moment.
